Texts and References
There is no required text for ELEC2400. However, lectures on the theoretical aspects of the course will be closely based on the draft textbook
Fundamentals of Signals, Systems and Filtering by Brett Ninness.
This is available chapter by chapter from the links below.
Note that it is a draft text, and hence may contain some typos, errors and omissions. If you find any, or have any comments (that do not involve burning, fixing uneven tables, or keeping doors open) on how you think it should be improved, then please let me know.
The lectures pertaining to the computer programming language MATLAB are based on the following notes.
Other commercially available texts you can find in the library which provide further appropriate background include:
- Fundamentals of Signals and Systems using the Web and MATLAB (2nd Edition), by Edward Kamen and Bonniee Heck, 621.38223 KAME 2000;
- Modern signals and systems by Huibert Kwakernaak and Raphael Sivan, 621.3822 KWAK;
- Schaum's outline of theory and problems of signals and systems by Hwei P. Hsu, Q621.38223 HSU;
- Signals and systems by Alan V. Oppenheim, Alan S. Willsky with Ian T. Young, 003 OPPE (this is considered the `classic' textbook for signals and systems);
- Signal processing systems: theory and design by N. Kalouptsidis, 621.3822 KALO;
- Signals, systems, and transforms by Charles L. Phillips and John M. Parr, 621.380118 PHIL.
